Frequently asked questions related to Facebook

Why is my category sometimes posted as Miscellaneous?

Crosslist maps your listings to the most accurate categories available on Facebook.

However, Facebook’s category system is more limited than some other marketplaces.

When no clear match exists for your selected category, Crosslist assigns the listing to Miscellaneous instead of forcing it into an incorrect category.

This ensures your listings remain compliant with Facebook’s requirements while still being visible to buyers.

Why do I get an error when posting to Facebook Marketplace saying there was a problem with my listing?

This error is usually caused by a limitation on Facebook’s side.

Common reasons include:

  • Your account does not have full access to Facebook Marketplace yet. This is especially common with newer accounts, which often unlock Marketplace only after some time. In that case, you’ll need to wait or use a different account.
  • You are using a business account or subaccount. Facebook Marketplace is typically only available for personal accounts, so this can trigger the error.
  • You have reached Facebook’s listing limit and are trying to post more listings than your account currently allows.
  • Your Marketplace account is temporarily under review after a recent listing. This usually resolves on its own, so please try again in 24 hours.

Why is my delist failing on Facebook Marketplace?

This usually happens because the listing’s Facebook connection was broken.

If you use Facebook’s relist function for Sold listings, it can sever the connection between the original Facebook listing and Crosslist. Once that connection is lost, Crosslist can no longer reliably delist that item.

To avoid this, do not use Facebook’s relist function. If you used it in the past and want to relist those listings through Crosslist, please unlink them first using the unlink feature.

INFO

Facebook Marketplace also has a Renew function. This moves the listing back to the top of search results.

The listing ID does not change, so this does not sever the connection between Crosslist and Facebook Marketplace and can be used safely.
