eBay

eBay lets you configure your shipping, payment, and return preferences in advance through its business policies.

Before listing to eBay through Crosslist, you need to create at least one return policy, one payment policy, and one shipping policy.

You do not need to be a business to use eBay's business policies. They apply to both personal and business sellers.

Creating your business policies

To get started, you must opt in to business policies for your eBay account.

Open the business policies page for your eBay region:

• eBay US
• eBay UK
• eBay CA
• eBay AU

Click Get started to opt in to business policies.

Then, click the Create policy button to start setting up your return, payment, and shipping policies:

Creating a return policy

Return policies help manage buyer expectations. Your policy will include:

• Return options: Accept returns or not, return window (e.g., 30 days), and return shipping responsibility.
• Handling time: How quickly you ship after purchase.
• Buyer requirements: Optional restrictions for certain buyers (e.g., unpaid item history).

Depending on your country, you may be legally required to accept returns.

Creating a payment policy

A payment policy defines how buyers can pay you and when payment is due. It includes:

• Payment methods: Credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, etc.
• Immediate payment: Require payment immediately after purchase.
• Payment timeline: Deadline for payment (e.g., within 48 hours).

Creating a shipping policy

Your shipping policy defines how and where you ship. It includes:

• Shipping services: Choose your carriers (e.g., USPS, FedEx) and shipping speeds.
• Shipping costs: Free, flat-rate, or calculated by buyer location.
• International shipping: Whether you offer it, and which countries you ship to.

Once all policies are created, your settings should look like this:

Only relevant if you have more than one policy of a type in eBay and want to choose which one Crosslist uses. Have just one return, payment and shipping policy? Skip this section.

By default, Crosslist uses the policy that comes alphabetically first from your list of eBay business policies.

You can change this default behavior by selecting different policies in your Crosslist shipping profile for eBay:

Does a dropdown show No options available? Then you haven't created that policy in eBay yet.

Weight and dimensions

If your eBay shipping policy uses calculated shipping, you'll need to enter the package's weight and dimensions in the Crosslist listing form.

eBay uses these values to calculate accurate shipping rates based on the buyer's location.

You can also set fallback weight and dimensions in your Crosslist shipping profile for eBay. Crosslist uses them when you leave these fields empty in the listing form.
