Frequently asked questions related to Etsy

What is a production partner and why do I need one?

Etsy only allows you to sell handmade items that are either made by you or by a production partner that is clearly disclosed in your listings.

This requirement applies exclusively to handmade items. Vintage items (20 years or older) do not require a production partner.

If you sell handmade items created by someone else, you must add that person or business as a production partner in your Etsy account.

This rule is in place to ensure that mass-produced goods are not listed as handmade items on Etsy.

INFO

A production partner is not the same as a supplier or wholesaler.

Etsy requires you to name anyone who helps you physically produce your items (such as a printer, casting service, or manufacturer).

Simply buying and reselling finished products does not qualify as handmade and is not allowed.

If you continue to see errors related to your Etsy shipping settings, it usually means there is a mismatch between your shipping profiles in Crosslist and your shipping profiles in Etsy.

Please follow this tutorial for step-by-step instructions on how to set up your Etsy shipping correctly.

Why do I see warning signs next to my images on Etsy?

When you post a listing through Crosslist and later edit it directly on Etsy, you may see warning signs next to your images indicating that they are too small.

Etsy displays this warning whenever an image is smaller than 1200px.

This is nothing to worry about.

When cross listing, Crosslist always starts from the images that were already uploaded to another marketplace.

Most marketplaces automatically compress your images, which means they are often smaller than 1200px by the time they reach Etsy.

It is not realistic to always have images larger than 1200px when cross listing from other sites.

Fortunately, this is not necessary — Etsy’s previews and product displays do not require images of that size, and your listings will still appear normally to buyers.
